Discover Black Excellence: Welcome Home at The Copper Door Bed and Breakfast

This Black History Month, we at Cruise Jet Travel want to honor black-owned businesses that are elevating the travel experience. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce the Copper Door Bed & Breakfast – a new jewel reflecting the vibrant culture of historic Overtown, Miami.Created by Jamila Ross and Akino West, two African-American hospitality trailblazers, the Copper Door B&B is a passion project where sophistication intersects with soul. With Ross’ Ritz-Carlton pedigree and West’s culinary arts mastery, they have crafted a uniquely welcoming, stylish, and culturally-rich abode.

The interior flair marries mid-century coziness with contemporary finishings across 22 handsomely furnished quarters. For our seasoned travelers seeking both comfort and community, the rooms evoke the easygoing warmth of “home.” And the real magic unfolds each morning with Southern breakfasts prepared by Chef West himself – think mouthwatering shrimp and grits, flaky biscuits dripping in gravy, and sweet potato pancakes.

Nestled within Miami’s historic Overtown, guests can immerse themselves in the neighborhood’s proud heritage as an epicenter of Black arts, culture and entertainment. A stroll through ‘Little Broadway’ provides an inspiring glimpse into icons like the Lyric Theater, while the Ward Rooming House Gallery offers a creative sanctuary for the local community.

Beyond Overtown, you can indulge in exciting Miami highlights – from the sandy shores of South Beach to the Cuban flavors of Little Havana and the legendary Art Deco district. At day’s end, return home to the B&B for phenomenal food, fun banter in the lounge areas, and a welcoming aura.
